Submission Bourée - Jethro Tull version on "A Little Light Music"

I never much cared for the power-chord bass solo in the studio version. Here's my attempt at a transcription of my favorite live version featuring Dave Pegg.

Dave Pegg was my favorite after Glenn Cornick. Cornick said he used LaBella flatwounds. I had my first real bass, and thought " ah, that's what good players use, " so I bent on a set of Jamersons and started playing gigs. Ouch!

This updated recording of Bouree really shows off Pegg's chops but I'll stay with the original because the one posted here is too long and too intense and too modern sounding. And that is "just like my opinion man".

Dave has or had an old Precision Bass with Leo Fender's personal signature written on the headstock. I did a Google search to find it to no avail. But it is probably this one.

Fair enough. My flute-playing wife is the same way. She has a book with the studio version and since she's from the classical world and refuses to transcribe stuff, I'd have to do it for flute before she'd even look at it. (Ugh!)

As far as I know, this is the most elaborate version there is, so I figure it gives maximum options so people can add, drop or modify sections as they see fit. For example, in a more recent version, I recall Ian cut out the guitar/bass fugue in the middle and picked up after that for a shorter version.

Consider beaming measures 116 and similar measures like this to avoid obscuring the 4th beat:

Also, measure 43 2nd triplet 3rd eighth note should probably be a C# rather than a Db.

Glenn Cornick's line is always what I play whenever I pick up a new bass to try it out. And when I say "play" I mean approximate. Still have trouble with his triple-stops.

Fantastic, shows what great musicians they all are, and what a timeless composer Bach really was. Excellent transcription, too! Now to convince my band to give it a go...
