Brand New Elixir SS Nano's

Just did something crazy. After 6 years of only playing DR Hi-Beams and Fat Beams I tried new strings. Just put a set of Elixir SS Nano's on my Lakland 44-02 and I am pleased to say it was painless. They have a very similar tone and feel to the Hi-Beams but I am hoping they will last much longer. I did notice that the Elixir strings do not have the same initial harshness of the Hi-Beams, which is nice. They come out f the box much closer to the 'sweet spot' of strings that are new but not too new. I play a lot so I may revisit this in a couple of days after I put some more hours on them. So far, so good!

Ive been using elixirs since they came out.. My favorite sound is rotosound ss, but they die so quick.. I tried the elixir ss recently and the only lasted around 3 weeks but the nickel ones last at least 3 months.. Not sure why but, you might be happier with the regular strings. Note they recently changed their formula. Maybe none of them last as long As the old formula.

I'm not as impressed with Elixir nickels as I've had in the past, they sound pretty scooped & pretty mellow. Great if you're looking for that kinda thing. I'm looking for a more aggressive steel & was hoping that Elixirs steels would be right !

Played these SS Nanos for 4 hours a day and am not liking them at all. They are too smooth and mellow. Not at all what I expected out of a SS string set of this price. No bite and no aggression whatsoever. Really expected a lot more from these. They might last a long time but not on my bass.
