My Warwick Thumb definitely has its own awesome and unique sound which, I believe, the brass frets contribute to.

I think it's an interesting concept, but, to me, it's too soft for frets.

I used stainless steel DR strings on my Warwick Thumb NT and the frets showed more wear after 2 years than some of my basses have after 10 years.

I don't think it affects sound at all, but it has a definite aesthetic benefit with the gold hardware on my FNA Jazzman

Plus (Looks ARE NOT a requirement for me.I've play some real turds,looks-wise,as long as it sounds good,I do not give a damn.),those gold-colored frets would look bad-ass w/gold h/ware,w/gold-colored Maxima (for example) strings.
