Bridge and neck Pup swap? Bartloini mk1

I remember seeing in a thread that Ibanez put the bridge pick up in the neck position, and vice versa for the neck pick up.

I've got a NTMB coming for the 505, and was thinking about switching the pickups while I'm at it. I've got a SR600 with a NTMB, but didn't switch the pickups when I was in the cavity, and if I like the results, will be switching the pickups in the 600 as well.

Has anyone switched these back into their intended spots? What was the result?

I have a set of MK1's in my junk drawer, I measured the resistance on both pickups, and it was basically the same. One pickup had slightly more resistance but I think that was just minor differences in the coil, it was so close that I doubt it was designed that way. I seriously doubt enough difference that you would notice it

I believe the pickup switching was done in basses with actual Bart pickups, not the MK1's (which are not Barts). I don't think it matters with those.

I think those references may have been for jazz or EMG type pickups in earlier models, not for Barts (of any flavor).

One odd thing about Barts in Ibanez basses, is Ibanez wanted a deep sounding neck pickup, and a brighter sounding bridge pickup. Usually Bart does it the other way around for a more balanced tone.

I have an SR4000E Prestige bass here that I did some fretwork on, and it has the USA Barts. I took a look at them and they have the neck (B) pickup installed at the bridge, and vice versa!

So if the bridge pickup is too "clanky" and you want a thicker tone from it, swap the two pickups.
