Bridge and Pickup covers

I was wondering if anybody could help me out here, Ive been toying around with the idea of putting bridge and pickup covers on my 02 fender jazz bass. I have a Badass 2 bridge on it right now and im wondering will a bridge cover fit over with it being on there since it extends out a little more or will i have to put the original bridge back on for this? :confused:

I had bridge and pickup covers on my P-Bass. Took them back off.

Based on how you play, you'll notice the pickup cover gets in your way. You can still play with it, but you might feel more comfortable playing with your thumb resting on the pickup, and now you can't. You can jam the Jamerson hook, but I know I can't play everything with the hook haha.

If you don't want the option of resting on the pickup, then you won't have a problem.

Bridge cover, meh, bass looks better with both on or both off, not one or the other, well I know my bass does. So I either have both on or off, and now it's off.

OH, and as far as the cover fitting, I really can't help ya there. I have Jazz Bass covers and no Jazz Bass (sold my copy when I bought the P-Bass), and only bought them because I plan on getting a Jazz again.

Uh no, not the pickguard. I like the pickguard.

The covers get in the way of your plucking hand and they're a pain in the behind when you're wanting to change strings. I never knew anybody that left them on their bass. It seems to be just recently that people have been wanting to use them again for some reason.

Depends on your technique:

I left the neck pickup cover in place on my '72 Jazz. I've never had an issue with it getting in the way, even while slapping.

The bridge cover is a problem for me because it covers up the back pickup. And if you play a Jazz, you're going to want to play on top of the bridge pickup quite a bit.

Again, Marcus Miller comes to mind. Tons of guys leave the neck pickup cover on. But you're right about the bridge cover not being too popular.

hey thanks guys for all the helpful information i pretty much wanted them for only that aesthetic look, to me they just give such a classic look. And thanks for all the comments about the pickguard i got it custom made for the bass since the design didnt match any the place had or something? But if anyone wants the place where i got it made at you can message me and ill get ya the info!
