Bridge covers

What do they do? Pretty much nothing. They were designed to reduce hum on original single coil instruments but since have been reduced to strictly ornamental, although some use them as thumbrests. Marcus Miller actually used to whack it for a bell-type sound.
Will a P cover fit a J? The reason I'm asking is because I like pickup covers on a J, but dont like J bridge covers because they're friggin HUGE! If they do, does anyone have a pic of it?
Yes, it will fit. They use the same bridge. However the Jazz bass ashtrays are designed to cover the bridge pickup as well. A P cover will not cover this and will leave your bass looking somewhat naked.freshmeat1989 said:
