They have a used one locally on the old Craigslist for $1500. $900 off list and it looks pretty clean.
I'd definitely consider that, if I were you. But since he's already that low, see if he will go down even more. Now, mine is pretty banged up but I got it for $1000 WITH an Ampeg 810 (Vietnamese. Sounded great but gave it to a friend cause I didn't/don't have any need/room for an 810) and delivered to me from an hour away. Be polite, but ask if you can get a better deal.

Awesome man! Big bass tube amps (aside from SVTs) seem to take a very specific buyer anyway these days, so I'm sure you'll be able to work out a deal. If you do get it, seriously consider an Orange OBC115. Or a couple.

Fair enough! I haven't played the Orange 410, so can't give an opinion on it! I do wish that it didn't have a horn though, to be more classic.
Yeah. I agree. I've never really played through many 15 cabs. I'm currently filling in for this band and their bassist has a GK 15 combo in their practice space so I've been using it. Man, that thing is SO BOOMY. It utterly killed my Ric, I've never heard a more un-Ric-sounding-Ric in my life!

You are most welcome. IMHO, there is no such thing as "being a 410" person. You can find the tone and volume you want from lots of different bass cabinet formats. IMHO, the 410 is a very capable design, but if you are not well supported in the PA, or if you don't have a two 410 stack, it is likely that the audience is mostly just hearing a lot of boom boom boom, unless they are on axis with your cabs (i.e., in front of the stage). All IMHO.
I understand that, but definitely don't base your opinion of all 1x15 cabs off just that one! Every cab is different, regardless of speaker configuration. Regarding the OBC115, it's definitely NOTHING like you described the GK!
Probably over 90% of my gigs have adequate PA support. I've always liked 4x10s. Never cared for 15s. I did have a nice 4x12 cab that I really liked as well!
Never played many GKs either, not my thing. The few I tried I didn't care for. I wasn't solely basing my opinion of 15s on that. I have a '63 B15. Love that amp to death!

Well, the sound I have enjoyed is the sound of my Ampeg 4x10, that 4x12 was also an Ampeg cab.IMHO, there is no 10, 12, or 15 sound, only sound.

Can confirm.
You know, on the first album it probably is something like a Bassman. I've never heard anything very definitive other than the rented Jazz bass thing, but nothing regarding amps for the first album, so it was probably whatever the studio had. The bass tracks definitely don't sound as raunchy as the Beck-Ola pieces. Even then, who knows what they actually used in studio for those tracks, but comparing that sound to other recordings of Marshalls+rotos, I'd wager it is the Tele into a Mic'd Major. On some of their American dates I know the entire band used Plush Amps as well, which iirc were based of a Fender Showman circuit (Fender something anyways).
Here you can see the sizably larger Majors towering over both the band and the other Marshalls (looks like the Grande in Detroit):
You can also see them here, however with another bass player (Ronnie isn't there, but Mickey Waller is, so it's pre-Beck-Ola):
Whoever that chap is though, he shows up again here, in the rear, while Ronnie plays guitar along with Jeff:
And here is the Plush backline:

Such underrated yet incredibly creative and influential groups.

Tele, yes. Did see a pic with him wearing a well used P.
His bass playing was excellent. That outside playing on Beck Ola is serious.
I'm not anti rhythm guitar just that he was not memorable on that instrument.
