Bronco 40 Opinions & Alternatives?

I'm thinking of picking up the bass, after a 25-year hiatus. I'm looking for something small for the bedroom. Reading on-line, the Bronco 40 looks great. I am a bit concerned about it no longer being supported, in a few years.

Can anyone share thoughts on the Bronco 40 as a bedroom amp? What are some alternatives that I should consider?

Fender has an entire forum dedicated to the Bronco 40. Friends of mine that own them, love them. It's an excellent choice with a lot of fun capability.

Fender's not going anywhere, so don't worry about support. They still support the Bronco 40's forerunner the B-DEC. Fender Fuse is very popular on the guitar end of things, so that's going nowhere.

Another great choice are the new version3 Fender Rumbles.

Thanks for the feedback. You're probably right about Fender Fuse not going anywhere soon. On the other hand, the Rumble, stripped of all that fancy stuff, alleviates any future support problems.

I'll head down to the local GC and check them both out.

I'm happy to be playing bass again, after 25 years off; remarkably, I'm just as bad today as I was then.

I use to have one and i found out how good it was until i sell it to buy an ampeg combo. I really missed the Bronco 40 because the ampeg had only one tone.

I sold the ampeg to finance another Bronco 40. When i went to the store, i was curious and i tried the rumble 40 and i was amazed. I wanted to buy a rumble 100 but it was back order. I left the store with the rumble 40 and i am 100% satisfied.

I get everything i want from the rumble 40. I can get a modern tome, a vintage tone and i also get a nice distorsion tone too!

As soon as i will need it, i will pull thé trigger on a 500, i am that impressed!!!

Thanks for the comments on the Rumble 40. I haven't yet made it to GC to try out the amps. A friend loaned me an old Line6 Bass Pod. It gives me a painful ear-ache by emitting a very high pitched sound that like the tinnitus I experience when shooting. But, the economy being what it is, I'm hesitant to part with cash on this newly (re-)found hobby of mine.

Based on the responses here, it looks like I'm going to try the Fender Rumble 40 and Bronco 40. I'm also keeping my eyes on the various classifieds.

Line 6 left the bass end of things due to poor sales + bad QC. Then they went belly up and were purchased by Yamaha last year. It is best to avoid all things Line 6 even if they are free. :***:

+1 on the Bronco...packed with features...plenty loud for home practice or small coffee house jams....great tone options for sure will keep your (re)-learning curve fun
