Bronco pickup mod questions

Hi All,
I swapped out the stock pickup for an Artec 7.3k lipstick which is the bridge of a three pickup Strat set.
Question one...why is this single coil pickup dead quiet (zero hum) through my recent Rumble 40 amp even when dimed...zero? The stock pickup, also a single coil Strat, was quiet with the tone rolled off but noticeable with the tone up.
Question two...why is the volume of this pickup lower than my Squier Jag at the same settings?
Question three... if I install the rwrp neck pickup, of the above mentioned set, along with a Tele four-way switch to get both neck and bridge in series, will that increase the volume?

From the wires it looks like the lipstick case is probably metal and grounded on its own which would mean the pickup itself is, in effect, completely shielded and why it is quiet.

Lipsticks are, traditionally, not wound very hot. Sometimes as low as 3 or 4K resistance so lower output then even an average strat single coil.

It's hard to guarantee but the matching RWRP neck pickup should still be as quiet. And, yes, the two pickups in series should be louder then both in parallel or on their own. That's actually how Nat Daniel did the original Danelectro lipsticks.

Yes, adequate shielding makes a gigantic difference. Reminds me, I gotta put the metal covers back on my Les Paul I'd replaced with cool plastic ones. Like the sound and the look, don't care for the noise.

Those lipstick pickups are a bit of an anomaly. They work better than would be expected for how simple they are.
The ones in the Danelectro LongHorn sound pretty good.

This one sounds good with the Chromes on there....smooth and creamy. It's a keeper but I'm thinking about adding the neck pickup to get more Volume (series). I'll have to rout the body, install shielding and cut the PG but that's all the more fun as I have the extra pup and a four-way switch doing time in the drawer.

I didn't know that about it being completely shielded...thanks for that. The body rout, as you probably know, is painted with shield paint.
