You told me it was good LOL
I know

And now you know I was telling the truth
I do recognize the irony here, but it's superficial: the Sunray had achieved nigh unobtainable status
years before I got one. I did not establish its reputation or status, though I admit I have affirmed it! Like many of us, when I really like a piece of gear, I sing its praises. Anyway, my point is that your experience parallels mine and, I suspect, most people's: the Sunray is
primarily desirable not because of its rarity, but because someone to whom we ascribe a degree of credibility says it's an excellent pedal
On a side note, the 3LA thread has received less and less messages lately. I would love to see if there is an inverse correlation bewteen the number of pedals made available and the number of messages on the thread.
What is the real impact of scarcity on demand?
It looks like since the pedals are much more available, the 3LA thread is slowing down.
Maybe it was just a hype and people moved on ?
Maybe it was the right people saying it is good !
TBer in shambles.
Or even maybe the thread is not even slowing down and my perception is flawed because this very thread is extremely active ? Who knows.
@letsgethandsome is no doubt correct that the lack of a wholly new circuit (versus tweaks of existing circuits) in many, many years is partly responsible. And I'm sure @musicmansf is also right about the financial factor. 3 Leaf Audio pedals aren't cheap! (I think they're worth it, but I totally get why someone else might not. And there's no world where I pay $1,000 for a Chromatron. I'd consider paying a small premium for one of those Plum Metallic Doom 2s, though.)
The other reason is all the drama. Not just some of the, shall we say, "colorful" posts on the website and nonsense like the tied sales with the bundled preamps, but also the fiasco between Spencer and Darkglass, and then Spencer and TB. So the 3 Leaf Thread has no solid foundation on which to build community. But that's normal. This thread is the exception. And that's only to be expected since it's technically not a thread, but a
superthread
First impressions after 10 min through headphones: no farts, more like a swarm of polite bumblebees. Gotta admit... I fear this is not a drive for me. Needs more experimenting. By comparison (at the risk of annoying @Erithon with pedals that are not strictly comparable, haha) I knew immediately that the Valve Champ, AVB, and Tubedrve were keepers.
Bahaha I'll give you a pass, my friend, since you affirm the Sunray doesn't fart. No matter how many times I say this, people continue to apply fart jokes to the Sunray. No. Reserve those jokes for the Quicksilver and Valve Champ, please.
Any chance you can compare the Sunray to the Tubedrve and NightOwl Parabellum?
Yes and no. See quoted post below.
