For sale Brubaker KXB-5 - Cedar top Single-cut with J pickups

I went back 5 years to check what I actually paid for this bass in 2010. Price has been adjusted accordingly.

Oh man, I saw this bass when I Googled Brubaker and started drooling. I love red, and I love singlecuts. I wish I had the cash.

Bump for my drool inducing Brubaker.

I lowered the price by $25 and removed the feeler parts from original post. Hoping to sell it quickly . . . Before Christmas would be stellar.

Bump. Edited listed price to include shipping. Last bass I shipped in a HSC cost a little over $75 to ship, so that's quite a savings. Maybe that will tip the scales on whether to buy or not. There's been a lot of interest shown via PM, trade offers and questions, but no takers yet. It's not likely you'll find a Custom Brubaker for under $2k anywhere else, so act fast.

I read your detailed description of your new Brute over on the Brute forum. Glad you took such a liking to it! The feel of the Brute that you describe was very similar to my first impressions with mine. This prompted me to have to know what a hand-made custom Brubaker felt like, thus I picked up this KXB-5 when I ran across it for sale. And it did not disappoint one bit. The feel of this one is a definite step up from the Brute. Lately though I find myself picking up my Brute more so than the KXB . . . probably partly due to the fact that I put long hours into modifying it with electronics, hardware and air-brushing to make it my own, one of a kind, Brute. Kind of my lowly tribute to Kevin's awesome and unequaled masterpieces. The bottom pic is the same Brute as the one above it in its current form, and I simply love it!

I see you put Delanos on that one.. I put Delanos on my Heir. The thing that surprised me most about my Brute was the tone options and feel of the bass. I certainly does not feel like a bass that I paid under 1K for. I was far more pleased by this bass than my 55-02. Not that the 55-02 was bad or anything.. but this bass is just ...

I love the Delano pickups and preamp in there. Talk about pouch and growl!! And I agree. IMO they are hands down simply the BEST sub $1k basses on the market. I wish their numbers and availability were higher so everyone could experience the wonders that they are for themselves! Someday it will be so, as their popularity and number of distributors seems to grow a little more each year.

My Brute came totally out of left field. I wasn't even looking for another bass. I was going to justy keep my Heir, sell the 55-02 and keep the 55-01.. I was intrigued by the write up and the installed electronics on my bass.. and when I did some research here on Brus.. I could find very few negative posts about them.. whether U.S. or imports.. In fact most of the U.S. reviews were so good that I was even considering saving up and getting one. I still am. Some guys didn't like the pickgaurds... but for the most part everyone thought the basses were great.. That is a very good price for a U.S. made Brubaker.
