Budget Home studio

We need more details. What, exactly, are you recording as far as instrumentation? Just bass? Vox? Guitars? Drums? Orchestra?
If you plan on recording a full band, will you want to do each instrument separately, or multiple at once?
What is your budget?
Where are you located? (This helps figure out what might be available on the used market)
Do you have a software in mind to use for recording and mixing?
Do you have any idea at all what you're doing once the audio is recorded?

since you're looking at an interface with just two inputs, i'll assume you don't mean you want to record the entire band, just you?

that's a lot of bells and whistles in that package. all you really need for home recording is:

- half-decent computer (which i'm guessing you have)
- interface
- headphones
- mic (if you absolutely must use your amp)

... so yes, what you're looking at would be more than fine.

No, that is not a good deal. The Focusrite interface is worth buying. I've been using a Focusrite for many years and they sound great. Everythng else is off brand...the phones, the speakers, etc.

I'd recommend Invalid Link Removed if you want an out of the box solution. Then buy some monitor speakers to go with it (you can get by with just headphones for a long time, though). The package includes what recording types call "light" versions of two recording programs, Pro Tools and Ableton Live. That means they have limitations on how many tracks you can record and some advanced features are missing but it's more than enough to get going and you can get a discount on upgrading to the full versions later if/when you are ready.

If you're willing to get each piece separately, I'd still recommend that Focusrite interface.
