busking,why i can't?

I can honestly say that after 1 year playing bass, I wasn't very good and would not have tipped myself. It's not a charity so you gotta be enjoyable to listen to, at a minimum.

I have a friend who busked and traveled the world doing it, ended up in New Zealand where he stayed, then moved to Australia. He played acoustic guitar and harmonica. His main money-making tool was not the guitar or harp, but was instead a quick wit and an engaging, humorous personality. Knew a thousand jokes for any situation. Just like with women, make 'em laugh and you'll get where you want to go.

A suggestion for the OP - why not hook up with a melodic soloist like a sax or violin? Or maybe with a singer/guitarist? Split the money, double the fun!

As was suggested earlier, solo bass by a beginner is often not engaging for the typical listener and they may not give you much money regularly. As was also suggested earlier, if you can find another musician to perform with you, you might do better on a more regular basis, but you would also need to split the money you receive.

?i thought in UK was better,too many busker say me that in UK or north europe is better,the most people that put money are the japanese,i think they love busker!

Perhaps it's just my experience growing up in the suburbs of London. Other parts of uk are generally more open and friendly.
