Buzz From The A String on Squier Jaguar Bass

Hello, fellow Bottom Dwellers!

I am new here and this is my first post. I have a Vintage Modified Jaguar Bass Special Short Scale. I just bought a new TC Electronic BG250-208, which is an upgrade from my Behringer Ultrabass BX600. (At least I think it is!) Anyway, I have a buzz that is still there, which I thought was caused by the junky BX600.

The buzz is most prominent with the P-Style pickups, but is still there with the J-Style, only softer. So, I assume that it is something related to bad electronics in the guitar that causes the buzz in the lower frequencies, and particularly in the in the open A (55 Hz) range. Not sure if it is in the controls or just junk original pickups.

Any help would be greatly appreciated! Thanks

Make sure there are enough windings on the A string to wind it down all the way on the tuner post until the silk leader just barely touches the bushing in order to get the maximum downforce over the nut.

Thanks for the reply, iiipopes. I checked the windings and they are all good. When I recorded from the direct out and recorded my guitar directly with a USB interface, it sounded fine. It also sounds good through headphones using the headphone out on the BG250 amp.

It comes down to the speakers in the new amp. At least that's what looks most likely the issue. I've uploaded an MP3 of the speakers. If anybody recognizes this noise, please let me know what you think.

An update for anybody that reads this. Turns out, my bass is fine and nothing wrong. It did turn out to be something wrong with the TC Electronic BG250-208 combo speakers.

I attempted to contact TC about the issue and submitted a request ticket. Never got an answer from them. Impossible to speak with anybody at TC, since they don't have a support number you can call. I called Fender just to see if they would answer the phone. I found out right away that Fender has great service and you can talk with a person! Impressed with their service, I ended up buying a Fender Rumble 100 v3 tonight. Those new models are awesome! They sound great and are super light. Even lighter than the TC.

I think that is the last time I mess with anything TC Electronic makes. This TC amp is going back next week. To me, customer service is a huge deal. Fender won this one by a mile!
