Buzz on the D

The ninth fret on the D string (the B note) has a light buzz which deadens the note slightly. You can hear it, but it's very light.

I don't want the string any higher, so what can i do about this? The fret itself feels smooth and the surrounding notes are fine.

High 10th fret? Get a small straight edge and see if it rocks on the 10th fret. Or any fret in the area for that matter.

What do you mean by rocks?

Use a small straight edge that will span from the 9th to 11th fret. It should lay flat against all three frets. If it rocks, as in doesn't lay flat across all three frets, then you have high fret.

Check the video out. You probably can find or make something to use as a straight edge for just a quick check and don't really need the "precision" edges shown in the video.

I tried that, but i don't notice anything untoward. Either the problem is somewhere else or I lack precise enough tools.
