Double Bass Buzz (was: Got some new Hybrids today!)

I had them changed while having a new endpin installed. They sound great compared to whatever the strings that I had on the axe were. But, to my disappointment, I couldn't even take my bass home because these new strings rattle against the fingerboard, so it had to stay in the shop. I can't wait to hear what it sounds like with my bow. The strings have a real nice, dark, and full sound. Love em.

The strings sound absolutely great! They are a little less stiff than my old stings, which is why they rattle against the fingerboard. I'm going to have to play with the bridge height to fix that hopefully. Looks like it's going to the luthier when I move, too. Hopefully he can get rid of the rattle. The old strings didn't do this (it only happens on the D string), but I think it's because these new strings are so resonant. The low E string sounds awesome! They sound great with the bow, too, and I can't wait to get that noise fixed.

The rattle would be helped by raising your bridge adjusters, but better to get your fingerboard worked on. That's what will really make the difference.

So it turns out that it's the D string that buzzes really bad when I pizz at a decent volume. I had my fingerboard straightened, all the glued areas checked out, etc. Then I find that when I pull my G string away from the D, and pluck in a way that I pull the A string back too, there's no buzz. So, these new strings vibrate at a wider radius than whatever I originally had on this thing when I got it last year. Anyone else ever experience something like this?
