Double Bass Buzz...

I've recently developed a buzz when I play a "D" on the "G" string pizz. It doesn't happen above or below, only that particular spot.

I hate to run it to the shop for something like this. Any suggestions or ideas?

Sounds like a sympathetic resonance issue. Could be a loose screw on a tuning machine, too much endpin still inside the bass, maybe a loose whisker on a string if you use guts. Or possibly a loose edge seam. You'd probably need a companion to help you check that -- one person to pluck the note while another compresses the plates to the ribs to try to locate the source of the buzz.

Sounds more like a worn/low spot on the board to me.

If this happens on the octave of the D string too it is probably a sympathetic resonance either on the bass itself , but sometimes even somewhere in the room.

If it doesn't happen on he D string it is most probably the board or the string.
If it gets les and less the higher you go by millimeters it is probably a bump in the board that needs to be planed. You can use a different G string. If it doesn't happen with this string, it might be the string, otherwise it's the board.
