BuZzing JP-90

found when the tone knob is turned up there is buzzing pretty loud, could be a bad pot, simple solder, idk. If anyone knows please chime in.

neat basses, but as i recall the pickups were kinda sub-par.

anyway, the noise is likely from your single coil J pickup; turn it down so you just have the P pickup and the hum should go away.

I have a JP90 with this same issue and it's all in the J-Pup. If I solo the P-Pup the hum goes away.

Are the J-Pups just badly shielded or is the J-Pup so sub-par that you just have to live with the hum?

My 1985 Jazz Bass Special (PJ bass) had the same problem.

The single coil J pickup hummed a lot if the tone was open much.

The hum also varied some depending on where I was playing.

I later changed the pickups to a Seymour Duncan SPB-1 vintage P and a STK-J2 humcancelling J.

Ok the pups are seymour Duncan sb bass lines hmmm. Could it be a grounding issue.?

single coil J pickups by themselves hum whether they're cheap or top-dollar.

in a P/J setup the P cancels its own hum but the J is left hanging in the breeze and will make noise.

Wondering if there is a remedy as when the p pup is place by itself the hum cancels, but no j is present,.
Is there a solution. The pups are bass lines and I do have listed in the classifieds. Not really sure of the model SD they are?

there are plenty of hum-canceling J pickups out there; the dimarzio area J is an excellent one.
