Bye Bye!

Just wanted to say a quick goodbye to everyone. Closing my account after I post this. No problems, no issues, just got to a point where I've realized my "online" life is bigger, more interesting, and taking up more of my time than my real one does.

Which I'm going to change!

Thanks to everyone who's been helpful, offered advice, and helped my over the last few years. You guys and gals are fantastic!

If you're ever in New England and want to get together, look me up. DerTeufel, Tat2dheart, and Tony P will all have my info if you need to get ahold of me for any reason!

Be good, KEEP CALM AND FOLLOW THE BASS PLAYER (like everyone else does!)

:)

So how does one "close" an account anyway...just not log on? :)

Evidently you have no options to close or suspend your own account, from what I can see in my info. I reported my own post and asked that the account be terminated. Probably not how you do it, but it's all I could figure.

Everyone's pretty cool, but honestly I'm just at a point where I'm kinda walking away from the interwebz for a while. I'm shutting down my Facebook account as well. Like a lot of people I've let these types of things take over too much of my life and until I get a few things squared away, I'm taking a break.

Best of luck to you! I definitely know where you're coming from. My playing has improved probably 50% since I joined TB a little over a year ago. I've received excellent advice on gear, books, tubes, strings, and have found friendship and a fellowship with a lot of the players here. I developed GAS here, something that is derided for the most part, but was actually a big part of that 50%. I was a one bassman for years until I joined here, got the bug, developed into a 5 string player, than a 6 string, and then fretless. Whenever things get stale, I pick up a fretless or my 6 and all that staleness melts away, and I play fresh again, even on the 4. The paradox is that this forum keeps me from getting even better due to the time I spend (pretty much wasted time I suppose) on it. I used to make a habit of meditating every morning which I haven't done in lieu of time here. There's a phenomenon that exists where there is a real pleasure that occurs when I hit that "post" button. I think that explains the popularity of the "4 word phrase" thread here a while ago that was for the most part gibberish but was a mainstay poster for lots of folks (myself included). Add to the mix the rush of the little red "alert" icons when I log on and it seems to be a pretty addictive mix for some reason. A poster a while ago put it well, I think. He mentioned that he could get the dream try out for the group of his dreams and miss it because he wanted to hurry home to see if anyone commented on the post he contributed to the "Your Favorite Sandwich" thread. Like a lot of funny comments, it's funny because there's an element of truth in it that a lot of people can relate to.

Best of luck, Jerry, from a fellow Central Mass bass player (from Spencer). Maybe we'll meet someday, and you can let me know how the break from the Web is going.
