If he runs a push pull pot, and an extra set of wires to the jack it should work.

Two pups with separate volumes, but they are wired together so the signal is still in a single cable.

Ok i did it. Really recommend it, costs almost zero and sounds good, it takes a lot of the aggressive edge off and it sounds a lot brighter, especially in the harmonics. Aside from this i can't say much because i've got new strings on. Will do samples if anyone's interested.
