C standard tuning on Peavey T-40

So, I got my T-40 2 months ago and set it up in C standard using D'Addario EXL-160ΒΤ. Recently I noticed that there is a "volume drop"(i dont know how to explain) on C string from the 3rd to 6th fret. Should I get a 5-string set? Would it fix this problem?

You probably just need to use a higher gauge set of strings if you're playing in Drop C. That's because strings need a certain amount of tension so that they can sustain longer and vibrate freely without touching the pickups/fretboard, which might also be contributing to your problem.

Also check the string height and pickup height/angle. You may find yourself setting the action higher than usual to compensate for string floppiness and avoid fret noise, so the pickup may be too far away on the C.

This happens to me in dropped tunings all the time because inevitably set the action a touch higher on the low string.
