So! I'm currently torturing a pair of very inexpensive, MDF cabs that are incredible inefficient. So I'm looking to upgrade (used) My choices as of late, and please feel free to ridicule me on how they may not have much in common, are an SWR Henry 8X8 (First run), and an Epifani UL310 (not sure which version. Rat fur covered) I only need 500w handling, and prefer a lower impedance to get the full UMPH! out of the amp. (TCE BQ500) Both are similarly priced and currently available. I've played through the Epifani, and I've heard the 8x8 before but never played it. Basic bar band stuff. Small to medium venues. We can get a little rowdy, so the volume escalates as the antics do. Just a three piece group though. gtr: marshall something-or-other tube head and 4x12 drums: Big-ole 7 piece with a ton of cymbals, on a custom riser PA: med/lrg, but all in-ear monitors We play a lot of 80's and 90's rock and like to put on a show. Thoughts?
Well, plenty of traffic on the thread, but not a ton of responses. I just called my (somewhat) local GC that has the Henry and asked them to set it aside. I'll make the order today. Next step....a TH500. I hear that's a great pairing. It'll be nice to finally graduate to some real gear.
Aaaaaaaaaaaaand the SWR is officially ordered! Anyone have any dust covers? Its hard to get @kringle77 to endorse my gear decisions, since they're usually pretty dumb and uneducated, so when I heard him say it was a smart choice, it made me warm and fuzzy....just the like the covering of my new cab!
