Cables do not all sound the same.

Most people here have played on plenty of sessions. Not a big deal.
An engineer friend of mine was just telling me about some solid silver wires he tried out...THAT I don’t want to know about. But if a $60 cable is an improvement, I’m interested

The part about high, mid, and low frequency wire networks is bull, but they might have something with that MicroFiber® dielectric.

You just gave me idea to buy some copper cables, for electric instalation and solder jack on both ends and see how that sound. Those may not be the most flexible cables but they may sound great.
You'll probably get a lot of noise with a standard electrical wire. An instrument cable is constructed with shielding in mind.

Why do they make the oversized plugs though?
I have never had any of my monster cables go bad. But I didn’t use the Studio Pro 1000 live. I think I got that cable around 2001.
I made my Mogami cables around 1995 and used them on the road a lot. None of them have gone bad.
the 'sound' of my cable has never hurt my playing. it was always something else! 
I've been using the same pair of original style monster 500 series cables (12ft & 21ft) for live use for 20 odd years now. Never a problem for what it's worth.
I bought 3 monster cables at the same time, probably 10 years back. All 3 were crackly within a few uses. I've had the same 20' and 15' livewire cords for 3.5 years and 300+ punk shows without a problem. Still dead quiet.
I will never buy Monster Cable so.....that's that.

i have one of those Monster Pro cables .. wish it wasn't quite so stiff ... but i do think quality copper and gold plated ends are good conductors ...
the only time i really noticed a big sound dif with cables , was when i try a 30' coiled thingy ..! didn't like .
that's about as scientific as i get with cables ... ProCo / Belkin is usually just fine ... especially when 'the audience is considered ..!! ' duh

That is a great idea! I will try that. If I dont forget, I mean. I should have some coax cables around. But if not, they are hell cheap.
I just measured a few cables i have next to me. I have a 20 footer that is 690pf..and a 6 footer that is 160pf . not sure what I'm going to do about it. I wish I never would have checked them. I was much happier before I knew.

OP, you are not talking about bad cables, you are talking about your perceived improvement in transient low end as well as a louder signal. This can also be achieved in other less expensive ways. But if you’ve got the cash to burn feel free. Freedom of choice! 
Your monster cable has less high end due to its capacitance than your other cables. That gives the impression of more low end. Grab a multimeter and measure the capacitance if you don’t believe me.
