Cabs for SVT-3PRO

ok, i love Ampeg tone and was gonna grab an svt3-pro. I would get the 410 hlf cab with it, but there is no way in hell i can carry that thing around. It would kill my back...

So what cabs do you think would be a good match with this head? I need a good quality cab, that I wont regret buying. And maybe even have some high quality casters. But anything a LOT lighter than 110lbs of hlf that is a good sound quality would be great.

the HLF has built in wheels in the back and a built in handle on the top which makes it relatively easy to roll around. don't get me wrong, it's a BIG 4x10, but it does roll and the tone is killer. don't pass it up just because of the weight...

yeah the wheels are nice I am just worried about stairs, getting into my backseat, etc. i know it will fit in my car, It will just take a lot of effort to get it into the backseat being so heavy. I was hoping I could find something of compairable quality that was much lighter.

+1 There ARE lots to choose from. IMO the 3PRO need-or at least would benefit from having PLENTY on spkr cone area = giving it ability to make some serious volume-which it CAN lack if not used correctly. I'd go for 2 cabs-giving options for Small/bigger gigs. A bergantino NV610(one cab tho) would make it sound awesome & LOUD! My two cabs- Aguilar GS112 & GS115 would sound great with the 3PRO IMO........& U have the option of just the 12" for small gigs, or the 15" , Or BOTH-as I do often- for larger gigs!

I use mine with two Ampeg Classic 410HEN cabs, when ran together get the full power from the PRO. I wish some of the naysayers of the SVT-III PRO's volume would come stand before my rig. The few survivors would flee back to their homelands deaf, sterile, and with a bad case of loose bowels.

Anyway, using one of the cabs is great for smaller gigs where size and volume isn't an issue, but I still have the goods to be heard as much as necessary.

FWIW

I use the 6X10hlf and my studio is 3 flights down (which obviously means 3 flights UP!) and I have little to no trouble getting it around. I'm 58 and able to lug it into the back of my PT Cruiser and it's a tad more heavy than the 4X10 (although not by much)

Ampeg (in their infinite wisdom) put the towel bar and wheels in the right places! Leverage is easily attained!!

However, if you're looking to go "super light"......

Don't be scaaaared, jump on in. Plus, HLF's have a nice low frequency response, they're lighter than my SWR 410 Goliath II's, O yea they're rated at 500w. :scowl:

When I had an SVT-3Pro I had it matched to my Ampeg fridge at the time. I ended up using my Ashdown MAG 300 head over that, even though the MAG is a mucher cheaper head. I just felt that the SVT-3 wasn't pushing enough air and wasn't nearly as loud enough. I ended up selling it for what I paid for it new.

I also ended up selling the fridge 3 months later.:hmm:
