Cakewalk Project5, laptop, M-audio...questions

I plan on buying Project 5 and a MobilePre by M-audio. I have an IBM thinkpad with a 1.6 Ghz centrino and 512MB ram. I do not have a soundcard for this laptop. Do I need one for to use this software/hardware. Im sorry if similar things have been asked.

Also, Project 5 can use most loops right? Such as Sonys Acid packages and the many others out there.

Anyone ever used this software? Anything I should know? I'm a newbie and this stuff.

download the demo of Project5 from Cakewalks site to make sure you are going to like it once you get the MobilePre. According to M-Audios site the MobilePre is an audio interface so yes it should work without a soundcard built into the laptop.

the latest incarnation of Project5 is great. it will play just about anything you throw at it.

you might want to add more RAM, the soft synths get RAM hungry pretty fast.
