IIRC it is a clone of the Tech 21 BDDI V1 very much like the Behringer BDI21. This design is intended to sound similar to the venerated Ampeg B15 tube combo that was ubiquitous for recording in the Sixties and beyond. Great value and tone for less than 40 bucks.

Currently use this as my D.I.
It sounds good. I'd say better than the Behringer. Though that's more because this is housed in a metal casing and the Behringer is in plastic. In all it's a good D.I. and Preamp.

I leave the OD knob at noon and run either another OD or a fuzz in the signal chain before it. The OD on the pedal itself is pretty weak.

Others have said that is sounds like the Sansamp but to my ears it doesn't. Sounds great running direct to your amp or using the XLR to your DAW.

Quick question, could this power a cab by itself? Like if I forgo a proper amp head until I can afford it, would it be able to drive the speakers?

No, you need some kind of power amp to drive the speakers.

You could pair it with a PA amp using the pedal as preamp.

But you could use it going directly to the mixing board.
