Calluses

I didn't know where to put this thread. Sorry if it's not in the right place.

My hands have been super dry due to work and I messed up and put lotion on them.

Well it must have been some really good lotion cause my calluses got super soft.

I have to rebuild them now don't I?

I can feel they are still partially there, they are just softer.

Any way to expedite this? I was able to play over 10 hours straight just days ago, now I can't play 30 minutes without my finger tips hurting. I messed up :/

I'm not a doctor, so this is just speculation, but... I think that no lotion works that well. Maybe the lotion had something in it, that was an irritant. I would just play normally, but not push past the point of pain, and wait it out. But... I'm not a doctor.

30 + years of playing I have never worried about calluses.
If I have recently played a lot, they get thicker If not, less so.
I only ever got a blister at a gig once, and that was from an upright bass.
Just pluck at practice the same amount you pluck at a gig and the calluses should take care of themselves
