Can’t EQ Headphone Signal from Amp

I'm wanting to place an mxr 10 band Eq between the headphones out jack from my Genzler Magellan 800 amp and my headphones but get no signal out of my phones. It seems like this ought to work but it doesn't. Mxr Eq works fine when plugging my bass into it and then into the amp input.

The reason I want to do this is because I wear hearing aids due to a hearing loss and can't wear them when I have the headphones on for practice due to feedback. The Eq is to boost higher frequency audio that is missing when Im not wearing my hearing aids. When Im just playing through my speakers then Im wearing my aids and don't need the Eq.

Any help is appreciated.

I would assume it has something to do with the cables. If you are using a standard cable, it is a TS (Tip/sleeve) so it would be mono. Typically headphone jacks are TRS (tip/ring/sleeve). Notice you headphone plug has an extra ring around it. This allows the stereo sound. So putting a mono device in the middle is probably causing the issue

Good point. That's probably the issue.
