Can I put 350W Speaker with 500W Amp

Ok I struggle a little bit with the technicalities of amp wattage. I have a nice wee Markbass CMD210 which does 300W into 8Ohms which is fine as it is 400W speaker set up. However, am thinking of buying a Son of Bertha SWR 1x15 to pair with this, but this speaker is only a 350W 8Ohm speaker and the Markbass apparently does 500W into 4 Ohms. Can I safely get away with using the SWR with the Markbass?

That sounds like it should be fine - don't worry about the watts. The 500W will be split evenly, with 250W to the internal speaker, and 250W to the extension cab.

The question is: why are you going for a 15" speaker, rather than an additional 2x10"?

Sounds ok to ADD the 15" cab and run as an extention but
1st time out be very aware at how hard you are pushing it...

Just because they say it can do so and so on the tin... doesn't mean that much..

You ears should be the final arbiter in this.. if the speakers sound like they are hurting, then back off with the volume..

Bass can be a killer for speakers ..

Thanks guys, am going for a 15" cab to add a little more bottom end to my 2x10, which seems a bit more middy.

Yes you can, and I would try out both cabs (210 and 15) before you make a final decision. You might be surprised at what you hear.
