Can I use my head (GK700RBII) for recording, without the cab?

Hi,
I'm going to a recording studio in a few days with my band and I wanted to run my bass through my head (Gallien Krueger 700RBII) and I wanted to know if I can use it alone or if it needs to have the cab linked?
Sorry for the dumb question but I think I've read that it needs to be attached to the cab...

Check your GK manual and see if it can run without a load attached. Also live sound and recording sound are different so just because you use the same gear doesn't mean your recorded sound will be the same. Room acoustics, mic freq range, mic'ing technique, conflicting freq's between tracks, in other words its a different world.

Focus more on your playing. Clean technique DI's and mic's pickup lots of noises you probably aren't even aware you make. Getting tone from your bass and hands more than amp. Knowing the tunes perfectly so you can relax and focus on your performance. Think about the sound you want so you can tell the engineer what you like. Remember you job is to play great with a good feel and let the engineer worry about the sound. An engineer can make anyone sound good, but they can't add feel if not there and if your playing sloppy, it can be fixed but will sound mechanical.

GK is solid state so it should be safe to run without a cab. IMO running a di plus micing a cab would be the better route to go though.

You don't need a cab attached, it says so right in the manual.
