Can somebody give me some advice?

Hi guys. I'm a pro player from Brazil and next month I'll be playing in the US. I was thinking of buying a bass there. As of lately I've been playing a lot of eletro-grooves,so I was thinking of acquiring a 5-string. I particularly like Warwick basses, but I'm not sure they fit my budget ($1,000-1,200). I wouldn't mind buyng a used one, but it can't be on ebay as I'll be travelling around (San Diego, San Francisco, Vegas and LA). Are there many used instrument stores around these cities? Any advice on what I should do?
Thanks a lot!

how long are you going to be in the US for? you will be able to find what you're looking for within that budget.. but being as it's the used market it might take more time than you have unless you hit it lucky right off the bat.

also, speaking of lucky.. stay away from our women! you "exotic" guys always steal the pretty ones

[EDIT]
just looked on the SF craigslist real quick and came up with these

[Invalid or Expired Link Removed] -- 5 string musicman for 350
[Invalid or Expired Link Removed] -- hamer 5 stringer.. used to be owned by matt sharp of weezer fame apparently
[Invalid or Expired Link Removed] -- peavey for 595
[Invalid or Expired Link Removed] -- and a yamaha for 100 more

sorry.. no warwicks
