^>^>^>I started this thread - if you read my post I said something to the effect of "I am a bass newbie" that was intended to point out that I have only recently started playing bass/reading tabs/and yes, reading standard notation - I started this thread because I have a lot of respect for the educated opinions expressed by the experienced bass players of this forum, and I had read some posts that were heavy in anti tab sentiment. My experience thus far has been that for me, tabs are very encouraging and fun play while I continue to learn to read / write standard notation (I spend the $9.99 and buy good books that have correct tablature and standard notation) - the reason I started this thread is that I want to learn to play the bass correctly, I do not want to foolishly develop bad or lazy habbits - so I try to draw on the experience of the forum members...I just re-read my original post, and to me it's was definataly a question about tabs place in the universe, not a defense of my opinion -AND if this was about my insecurity we'ed be talking about my genitalia, not tablature, but thanks for your reply.
