Can this be saved?

I found this bass on ebay, I wonder if it can be saved in anyway:

Scroll down to see the damage on the neck (below). I suppose that if the break is clean, it could be glued back. Whatcha think?

I'd want to look at it in person before reserving final judgment, but with enough time and money, almost anything can be saved...

I wonder if it was over tightened... I don't really believe the story of the transport accident, because none of the photos show a shock in the back of the neck.

Parted out one could get about $100 back out of it, as headless gear is pricey.

But saving it would be better. In case one wants to play in an 80s cover band.

i'm sure it could be.. i would guess glue it, clamp it..

Seems like an fix as the fingerboard is still intact. The black paint makes doing most fixes for thins type of repair easy.

Hi.

IMHO it's fixable, but it's not an easy fix.

Since all the forces are located into a really small area, the end of the neck has to be rock solid. Just squirting some glue there and clamping it may do more harm than good in the long run.

IME that's a ~$200 fix.

I'd grab it just for the hardware and make my own headless bass....

Engrain.... :scowl: Only epoxy will save it - fill every crack & hole, then re-drill.

I second the idea of using the hardware on a scratch build.
