    Hello bass players,

I am a beginner bass player and have been playing a Squier VM PJ Bass for some time now. I am very curious about the humbucker sound, so I want to buy a second, low budget bass with a humbucker pick-up.
I can't decide between the two models:

    - Squier VM Jaguar HB (discontinued):
I can get this bass for around 135 Euros here in Germany. It is not as well made as the Sq. VM PJ but offers the bridge (coil) humbucker for a great price.

    - Epiphone Toby Deluxe IV:
It seems to be better made then the Squier, but I'm doubting if the bridge pickup (rail) can offer me a similar sound like the one on the Squier. Might be more versatile due to the second humbucker pickup at the neck. Price point: 195 Euros.

My main concern is the sound. I have tried the Jaguar before and it offers a quite punchy sound with it's PU. Can I get this sound also on the Toby? What's the difference between the coil and rail humbucker?

For me it also seems that the Toby Deluxe is like a Jazz Bass with an added boost feature, which doesn't really make the sound thicker but more distorted (I don't know if I got this right). Then I could get the standard version for 50 Euros less. I'm not into Rock or Metal, I would use this bass for a thick and funky sound for more Funk, R'n'B, Pop and Fusion styles.
What makes the active rail humbucker feature so special on the Toby Deluxe?

Please help me with your knowledge and experience. Thanks a lot.
