For more than 20 years I have been using either a late 70's SVT or an old GK RB400, which I use just as a power amp by plugging a either a Sansamp or VT Bass pedal into the effects return. The GK setup has been my go to mostly because the SVT has to be so loud to get a good sound that it is not always practical.
My GK has broken down for only the second time in the 33 years that I have owned it but I am not sure if I want to put money into that amp to get it repaired. I have a line on a used GK MB800 Fusion and a Little Mark Tube, both used. Or I was thinking about a new V4B. Other than ease of transport, which does not matter too much because they are all better in that regard than the 70's SVT, does anyone out there have any opinions on these amps?
I play in a loud rock band... think MC5, Van Halen, ZZ Top... and prefer a bit of a full and burly tone.
