well, i tend to play punk/metal/rock, i started about 4 years ago, stoped for about a year and ive been playing about half a year again so im just getting back into it, atm i have an eppi thunderbird, bc rich nj beast (need to ajust the trus and action) and a stagg (crap! xD), the thunderbird isnt exactly comfortable, i played a MiM p bass in a local shop and it felt Great! so ive been leaning towards that, also i played an ibanez about the same price and didnt like it because of the thin neck, it just felt tiny xD, if any of that info helps.

On a personal level I'd go with the p bass but I am a bit biased. ;)

Although I cannot speak for the other 2 basses, the p bass will do punk and rock well and metal? I have no idea (I don't play or listen to it really) but I can't imagine it'd leave you wanting. Besides that BC rich would surely be youe metal bass of choice! :p

Don't limit yourself to the MIM range though. If you can spend a little more a Highway one would be a much better purchase IMO. Or, perversely, for a little less a Squier VM p bass would also be an equally good, some would say better, choice.

the bc rich is a pain in the ass xD sitting down it has a spike that digs right in, and its gota be the heaviest thing ever standing up! and how much better is the HW1? i know it has a badass bridge and thinner pain (means it will wear quickly?) ass for the squier i dont like the idea of having squier on the head xD oh and i know the p bass will do anything i tell it to xD i was just wondering about the others, but even so i will get them in time :D

Then sand off the decal! Seriously dude the Squier VM series are EXCELLENT basses and are evry bit as good as a MIM IME/O. :)

You might do yourself well to consider a japanese fender. Quality would trounce the MIM P. IMHO. But the MIM stuff I've tried is just fine.

I recently picked up a Fender Aerodyne Jazz from Japan. and it has a P/J config. Nice light Jazz neck but with some P punch.

I haven't been impressed with either traben or the new schecter stuff. Schecter used to make some pretty awesome parts and basses back in the late 70's early 80's.
