Can't find pickguard for knock-off P Bass

Hi,

I wasn't sure to put this in Luthier's, or general discussion - if this is wrong feel free to move it.

I have a knock-off P Bass (from memory a Carson maybe) which I'm doing a rebuild on using the body and neck. The issue is it appears the bass it narrower than a standard P Bass (as far as I can find, I can't find any dimensions for standard P basses) as it only measures 32cm (12.59inch), the length appears standard though. The pickguard I bought for doesn't sit well, and doesn't line up with the pickups or the top route pots area either.

My question is can I find a pickguard for this knock-off body shape, or would it be better to scrap it and buy a proper sized body. In doing so I may have to also get a new neck as the neck shape to fit the body isn't standard either.

If you still have the original pickguard you can send it to one of the pickguard makers (Pickguardian, Perhaps) and have them make you a new one it whatever colour/material you like

Unfortunately I don't, the pickguard was broken when this bass was given to me and I foolishly threw it out before realizing they weren't all one size fits all.

time to get creative. make a prospective one from something semi rigid. construction paper or something. do a mock up. modify as needed, mark the screw holes and have someone make it for real. ive seen a few guys in luthiers corner do some really cool mods to accommodate preamps and whatnot.

Sounds like a plan. I'll look into doing that and sending it on, pickguardian recommended?
