So I have a very old Matamp with 3 ECC83/12ax7, 4 X EL34/6CA7 and 2 X 5U4G rectifier tubes.
There are only 4 Electrolytic caps in it two dual section 35mm dia radials no problem there one other 50uf axial in the bias circuit also no bother but then there is a 3" diameter X 5 inch tall thing like a tin of beans sticking up by the side of the rather huge partridge mains transformer.
The thing is its only marked at 50Uf 500 Volt now what would you guys replace it with???? there is a nice big choke in the power supply by the way.
How many microfarads do you think would be safe for the 5U4G tubes to charge there is no standby switch by the way, so gentle charge start.
