Captain & Tenille?

Hello all, sending out a question to my low-end-loving amigos here. I know that Daryl Dragon (the Captain) frequently utilized the Wrecking Crew to cut tracks, but does anyone know who played that funky bassline on “The Way I Want to Touch You?”

Maybe the magnificent Carol Kaye? Or maybe Dragon played it on the bass keys, ala early Ray Manzarek?

According to the All Music website, Daryl played dang near everything on that album... including bass.

I'll admit I haven't listened to a whole lot of Captain & Tenille, but everything I have heard featured Daryl on keyboard (mini-moog) bass.

Apparently Daryl Dragon (aka The Captain) played electric bass on those albums. According to an interview I found he studied string bass in school and played electric bass in a band with his brother. On the first Captain & Tennille album he’s credited with playing “Fender Bass” as well as several keyboard instruments.

And they were 'insiders': Darryl was the son of Carmine Dragon, a conductor and composer with many credits in film, and Tony was one of the background singers on sessions, IIRC. They were both seriously accomplished pros.

I just finished re-watching 'The Wrecking Crew' and 'Muscle Shoals' yesterday, my goodness what players, and the times they lived in and all the things they cut.

There’s this mattress commercial that I saw that had “Love Will Keep Us Together” playing in the background. I had that song stuck in my head for 3 days not knowing where I heard it from. Then I saw the commercial again!
