Double Bass Carbon fiber bows are indestructible.....

A fallen soldier from brewery gigs this weekend. Carbon fiber bows are almost indestructible; the ebony frog, not so much. 'Glad I didn't bring my antique pernambuco bow!

A $6 bottle of fancy CA glue and it is back on the job, but playing the entire second set bowless made me really appreciate how much diversity of sound & experience it offers.

Does anyone make a good, responsive carbon fiber frog?

I think a CF frog would be awesome.

i've been using CF bows on all string instruments starting with the metropolitan for bass around 2010. They seem to seriously be getting better and better.

just this week a violin student of mine got a codabow for violin in the $450 range. it honestly was the best performing bow i've ever used. it sounded quite nice, and could easily be mistaken for a nice sounding wooden stick.

amazing how far they've come.

even the glasser (braided) carbon fiber sticks are being recommended by some of the top bow makers as the best student choices. I have one for cello and it's an exceptional bow.

Are there any newer top-contendors in the bass word? is the metropolitan still king? I'd love a backup french bow.

IMHO Arcus is the king. I have the Codabow Infinity (replaced the metropolitan) and they aren't even close.

What kind of glue did you use? I don't typically use superglue for anything load bearing or under tension but I'm always curious to learn.

Just make an All-Aluminum Bow and be done with it!!!
I would suggest T-6061, for weld-ability.

I've broken at least two carbon fiber sticks! They have a spring inside.

They’re easier to break than wood bows, in my experience.
