Carvin Bass Strings?

I have not had issues with them and you can't beat the price...
Used Carvin strings for years and had no problems with them...for the money I could not complain about the Carvins.
I have used Carvin 5011 nickel plated medium light gauge round wounds (.040, .060, .080, .100, .128) for several years now (8?) and, like so many others, I don't mind the low price . . . I think I pay about $11 a set (buying a dozen sets at a time) . . . . . .

I used them off and on through the years. They have a good tone, although I cannot say they were super duper. They, at least in my experiance, were not long lasting and went dead after a short time of playing. They have a good price and can be bought in large numbers so you will always have a set when they do go dead.

i have used them from time to time too...cheap priced ...but yeah they dont seem to stay bright ...but not too bad of strings ...and i have tried losts of different types...i think they are better then the generic ones from sam ash to an extent

all strings R a matter of taste. carvins R no dif. but I think they R made by a famos co. like ghs or la bella. they use to be much cheaper so i dont buy them any more but i had no prob with them. the only ones I will not use R slinkys and other bass players say I'm nuts so like i said to each his own. oh but dont use harke cause' they are made in china crapola! I do like oh whats the name of those oh i remember now they'er called whats ever on sale, I'm broke!

I've used the 5011's for about 10yrs now and love them. Great price and quite a bit of life. I do experiment around from time to time, but always come back to the 5011s. I order 5-6 sets at a time to make the s/h worth it.

Can't really talk about the roundwounds from Carvin, but I do like their flatwound sets, which I believe are made by LaBella.

LaBellas are sought after by those who prefer that traditional "old school" bass sound that has regained a bit of popularity lately. I have these flats on my Fender P, and they feel and sound fantastic. The price is a bargain -- Carvin must buy these in bulk from LaBella, because they come from Carvin packaged in clear shrink wrap. My set has been on for over a year, and they're doing fine -- just wipe 'em down when you're done playing.

If you're looking for LaBella flats but don't want to spend full price, this is the way to go.

I use the Carvin Nickel Roundwounds on my 5 and 6 strings and have for a long time, and I have no problems getting a good tone. From time to time the strings have been made by GHS, Vinci and now LaBella. I have noticed that D'Addario 6 string sets put too much tension on some of the earlier bass necks (90s era) that I have. The Carvins tend to match the necks fairly well, IME.

The last few times I have bought Carvin Flats, they have been GHS Precision Flats, and not La Bellas. 4, 5, 6 string sets have all been GHS. The Carvin website says La Bella, but these have been GHS. Purple silk, gauges, feel, GHS.

For years and years, the Carvin flats were the La Bella 760FL set.

Does anyone know if Carvin basses ship with nickel or stainless strings? I just bought a slightly used Icon 6 that appears to have the factory strings (tapered B, black silk) and really love the sound and feel on this bass (so far, I have practice later today, so I'll see how they sound in the mix). The B string sounds great! I'd like to order several sets, but I want to make sure I get the same strings.

I just paid my last installment on my new Carvin SB5000 and was considering ordering a 3 pack of the strings to save on shipping. I ask Kevin, a sales associate, about them. Here's what he said:

"They're made by LaBella, so they play just like them. They don't last long though."

I'll try them on my new bass and see how they are before spending money on them.
