Carvin BR 118N or BR 115N

I'm currently looking at adding another bass cab to my rig to get more headroom and to add some low end. I'm considering either a Carvin BR118 or a BR115. My rig consists of a Peavey Tour 700 head paired with a Mesa Powerhouse 2x10 and my band plays mostly hard rock. If anybody could give me an opinion on these cabs and which one to get. Or if anybody has other ideas I'm open to suggestions. Thanks

You’ll get plenty of low-end from the ported BR115N-8 (8 ohm version NEO), so I would get that. The BR118 sounds better paired with a 410 along and one of their bi-ampable heads.
With a single 210, the BR18 will just be too much for it. The BR115N is cheaper also so…

Not sure of the dimensions of the Mesa and how well it will sit on the Carvin though. Might want to see if you can find a used Mesa 115 Powerhouse, if they make one.

Another question. The head puts out 700 watts at 4ohms and the Mesa 2x10 handles 600 watts at 8ohms. So by adding a cab such as the BR15, which handles 600 watts at 8 ohms, will everything be alright?

The thought that a larger cone will add low end is a myth. The best cabinet to pair with another is one exactly the same as the first.

I agree with Bassman Paul but sometimes adding a duplicate cab puts you over budget, and pairing a 210 with a 115 is a popular combination because it works fairly well.

That being said I would look for a used Powerhouse 210 first. That way you're guaranteed equal and effective distribution of power from your head.

Will the cabs be okay as far as wattage goes because the head will put out 700w at 4 ohms and the cabs are rated at 600 watts at 8 ohms

Yes, the two 8 ohms cabs means your head will be running at 4 ohms at 350w per cab, which is plenty of power per cab.
