Carvin BX1200 & Avatar 4-10 NEO 8ohm

After numerous hours spent on this forum and other web-sites, I think I am going with this combination for a new rig. I am going to make one more call tomorrow on my original thought which was the Genz Benz 6.0 Shuttle & GB 2-12 NEOX. I have spent hours trying to get information and finding inventory on the GB gear. I have one promising store left to call. Depending on how much higher the GB gear is will be a factor. I have come to the conclusion that from my experiences over the last two weeks, it might be in GB's best interest to sell direct as Carvin does.
PLEASE > I would appreciate opinions about this rig? :hmm:

If possible go with the 4ohm, I mean really get the full potential of the head. My current rig is the BX500 with the Carvin BRX10.4 Neo cab. I still own my BX1200 and have coupled it with the Avatar B410 4ohm neo cab, it's an awesome combination with plenty of what you'll ever need from a bass amp. But seriously, go with the 4 ohm cab, you won't regret it.:smug:

I"m thinking this way; The BX1200 is 800 watts @ 8ohms bridged which will be plenty I think in almost any situation. Going with the 8 ohm cabinet gives me the ability to add a 2-10,or 4-10,or 2-12 Avatar NEO at 8ohms 8+8 in ohms equals 4ohms. At 4ohms bridged the BX1200 gives you 1200 watts :cool:

Bingo! You won't notice the 1200 W vs 800 W into a single 410 cab. But adding the 2nd cab with more watts would be much more headroom.

I'm a serious fan of Carvin gear, having purchased from them on and off since 1977! :eek:

But honestly, if I had the choice between these two rigs, I'd go for the Genz-Benz rig straightaway. As far as scalability is concerned, the only issue here would be the limited power of the Shuttle. In which case, I'd either save enough to buy a GBE 1200 or a ShuttleMAX 12.0 right off...or I'd plan to sell off the Shuttle after a year or two, then use the proceeds (along with some extra $$) to upgrade to the GBE 1200 or the ShuttleMAX. Along with an additional NEOX-212T... :cool:

I see your point, I was thinking you could get the full 1200 watts at 4ohms with using just one speaker cab - less to move around. I've used the BX1200 with multiple speaker cabs and got tired of all the extra work hauling around extra cabinets.

Okay after a phone call to Genz Benz dealer that knew what I was speaking of when I asked about a Shuttle 6.0 and a wealth of other knowledge about their products, that is the way I am going. It's gonna be Genz Benz, just got to decide how I am paying for it.:smug:
