Awesome man alot of people seem to be haters on the electronics but I think the sound great man
Yeah, every discussion board has its "conventional wisdom" and that seems to be one of those ... My take is that Carvin pickups are meant to sound very even by default, which I understand some people feel is bland, but the idea is that you're supposed to use the active eq to sculpt it to the sound you want. Anyway, it's worked for me so far!

Yep I agree and really like the pickups because of that. The preamp is very responsive and makes it easy to dial the tone you desire in and the wood combination I have has a very high midrange sound to it so I usually run with my treble completely off.

Just haven’t been happy with the blend control

It’s the blend control

I love playing one click off center for a lot of basses to dig into the bridge pickup a bit or close for a bit more forward growl

Problem is one click does notjing
(1:00) and then after that
It’s basically right to the bridge…. But I have hum as it’s single coils

So as you move from 2:00 let’s say to the rest of the sweep, the hum gets louder
Indicating I that it’s still panning towards the bridge or neck

I have humbuckers in mine and don't have any issues. My biggest issue is my cable I'm just wondering which brand to switch too. I have a planet waves cable from back in 2013 but it's about done lol

Hey man how do you like your GK

I just sold my last Icon. Loved the bass! But it was almost 10 pounds and I have a few Kiesel headless basses that just felt better.

I’m a huge fan of their electronics. The pickups and preamp are very hi-fi. But I agree that the singles can hum. It makes either pickup soloed kind of useless.

I picked up a modern PJ recently and had to buy a humbucker from Kiesel to retrofit the J pickup. The P was great. Together they hummed. The bridge alone hummed horribly. Changed over to a humbucker (H50?) and now all three positions sound great with no hum.
