Carvin LM15A's

my band needs a serious upgrade w/ our PA's. theyve done the job, but as gigs and gear gets bigger and louder, they don't keep up. A pair of Carvin LM15A's look like a great choice to use out of our (unfortunately) Behringer PMP3000 mixer, and if necessary we can use the power outputs of the mixer for monitors. in terms of what its competing with, we have a Gallien-Krueger 1001RB-II bass headpowering a GK cab and for guitar we have a LINE 6 Spider Valve 212 Tube Amp Combo. its a loud pair. would these PA's be a good choice?? not really miking anything through them, just need to handle vox and playing mp3's through them for DJ-ing parties and such

I just ordered a pair of LM15A's last week..... they arrived on Thursday..... both DOA. Words just can't describe how po'd I am at this. Not one, but both of them are dead. I've tried every outlet in my studio and home...... nothing, just the sound of the breaker inside popping.

I'll be discussing this with Carvin today. My suggestion is that you avoid the LM15A's. It sounds like they made a change in the amps late last year, and folks are having issues.

i was emailing Mike Sauceda, the amp production manager at carvin. he said they were doing something different, etc etc. thanks for the feedback. hopefully yours were an exception and if/when i order some itll work out, because from what ive heard theyre amazing speakers.

Yeah....something different..... like not bothering to check if the darn things work.

On a brighter note, they did rectify the situation quickly. They said they'd make sure the replacements worked before sending. I passed, and ordered the passives with the dcm2000 instead.

After checking around, and posting on their forums, it appears I'm not the only person who's had a problem with recent LM actives.
