I have a Carvin walnut bolt 5 string with P99 and a Humbucker with coil splitting , capabilities and passive active cababilities and to be quite honest, IMO the soundclips on their website reflect just a certain aspect of the bass's sound capabilities. For example, I can get a much smoother, traditional tone from my bass than you hear on their samples. It all depends on the player, set-up, settings and sound concept you want. I will say my bass is very versatile and is capable of many tones, both modern and traditional.

I have a LB70 4 string with J99s. You can get a wide variety of tones with the EQ and just on how heavy or lite its played. Very smooth sound over all.
