I've had a few cases that just don't eminate a good fragrance and ultimately the instrument inherits it. What's the clean fix?

Dryer sheets if you can't get it outside in the sun for a a week or so. The sun and fresh air do wonders on funky guitars and cases.
I've also used Fragrence bags for clothes in cases as well.
