Caveman BP1

I like your video(s).
I am thinking about buying a Caveman since a few weeks.
I use also an Eich T1000 and an EBS HD802 as main amps but nevertheless hope to improve the DI-Signal.
Did you have a comparison with the larger BP1?

I chose the smaller one because I tour around the world with. It should have the same sound but less connections.
It's a nice preamp. I find it rather subtle in all the videos I've seen of it including yours and the one by @IvanBassist , but being based on a 1073-type circuit and owning such a circuit in my studio I think they did a good job of capturing the vibe. Some subtle low end and top end addition, and extreme low and high frequency roll-offs. More gain, more saturation, more color. I think if you need a high quality, pedalboard-friendly preamp that isn't going to provide massive tone shaping, then this is an excellent choice.
Just got a BP1 and BP1 Compact in, going to be checking them out and comparing to my rack Pres. I want something for the pedalboard that can work on the studio too.
I love that the preamp is in the path of the amp output too. So far running the BP1 into my interface's line input sounds great. Going to run this through my two rack pre's(phoenix audio ascent2 eq + heritage ha73-eq) EQ section as well to see how this fares. I like to dial some treble back in the 10-12k range and boost 40-60 a little bit which I usually do on my amp(Mesa WD800 or TT800) too while adjusting the HPF to keep things from getting too boomy.
I've been using both units while trying to get identical settings. I've been running them through my Phoenix Audio Ascent Two EQ which are knocking down high treble and a little bit of bass boost.
I might use like my boss DC-1w as a stereo splitter with a high quality buffer and record both pedals with similar gain/level settings and really A/B them in the DAW, with and w/o EQ.
One thing to note is the Amp Out on the BP1C according to the documentation is transformer balanced as well which I originally thought was not the case.
I have read/heard different opinions of the sound between this two units. Do you prefer one over the other in terms of sound quality?

I just recently acquired a BP1 and really like it too. I used tube preamps previously and it took a bit to get used to but great so far! Are you going to a demo with the BC1? I really enjoyed this demo!

Can anyone explain why the effects loop is placed after the input buffer, but before the preamp section? I'm just not sure of the benefit of this.

Thanks - I genuinely didn't expect a reply at all!
I get that the preamp is added on the effects return, but I suppose I was trying to understand the benefit of that vs running the signal with preamp flavour to the pedals for processing and then back again for balanced output.
I actually posted a question under Basstheworld's review on YouTube - he responded stating that the preamp can have too much volume for other effects units. This makes a bit of sense to me but have no experience with a unit working the same!
Regardless - I'm very excited to have ordered my compact and it should be here this week!

The positive posts and demos lead me to also recently acquire a BP1 Compact.
@silky smoove nails it.
It does what I've been wishing a pedal would do: Make my Mesa D-350 feel more like my WD-800. Other pedal preamps I'd tried lacked its full spectrum saturation or they added noise.
It performs very well with synth and down octave effects. It adds firm bass presence in a mix without adding brightness.
