Chair or stool for practice and stage?

And hello.

Looking now for some sort of chair or stool for practice and for stage. What experience, tips, tricks and/or stupid pet tricks have ye?

I see most of the stools with major musical equipment names to sit on ring in at 24 inches height. Is this really workable? I see a few others that adjust higher.

Looking (I think) for something fold-able for load-in and load-out. Would prefer to keep the deal in or below the US $100 range but can go higher if there is a decent ROI.

Just picked up two folding stools from WalMart at less than $30 apiece and 29" high with back rest. They have the same stool at 24" as well for $25. Steel construction with foot rest.

I had a phase of sitting on a stool , a gimmick really as it was way out of character for the type of band, and you know how 18 year olds are!!
I simply grabbed whatever tall bar stool the establishment we were playing had around the place...

On order now. Looks to be just the thing. This never showed up on my searches for "guitar chair" &c because it appears to be marketed as a keyboard seat.

My dream is to have Archie Bunker’s chair on stage. Last time I checked, it was in the Smithsonian, and they weren’t in too much of a hurry to loan it to me.

And we haz musician's chair that is known as an On Stage Guitar / Bass / Keyboard throne. Found it ready to be unpacked and assembled when I got home.

Assembly is reasonably straight forward and required no tools at all. Attach the seat to the height adjustment bar, and attach both to the base. Then attach the backrest to its support, and attach the completed piece to the rear of the seat. And done.

Set the seat height so my feet touch the floor, so there is no need for the foot rest. The foot rest height is not adjustable, nor is the backrest position or height.

I take up my bass on the throne. It feels very good and my bass is exactly where it should be. I can reach all the fretboard with ease and my right arm and hand are exactly where they should be. I commence to some chord tone noodling.

The throne is very sturdy and substantial. The only way it could ever move out of place on stage is if your band books a gig in a bouncy castle. That said, I would not call it a portable solution. Be certain to plan for extra room in the gig mobile.

In one band I play aux/latin perc and have used this for sev years to play congas.
I don't care that it says Craftsman on the seat...

That's a great thread there! Settled on an On-Stage not long after the OP and use it daily.
