Changing Electronics

Hey guys,
I need some help on switching out the pre-amp and p/u's on a Fender MIM bass. I'm not sure what the pre is but the p/u's say Noisal???. Anyway, what I'm looking for is a nice warm but louder sound. It is active, but even if I switch out the battery, I still can't quite get what I want. I'm old school but modern thinking and have played for along time. I use flats on it and that really does help - but just not there.
Thanks

Get a preamp with bypass (active/passive) operation. Try the Aguilar OBP-3... it's relatively cheap, easily customizable, and will make your bass sound better.

If money is no option, get an East preamp. They can boost your sound, have all kinds of bells and whistles, and are easy to put in... but $300+.

When I think warm, I think Bartolini. Definitely not knocking the Aguilar (my next bass is gonna have and OBP-3) but those are the preamps I would go to for warming your tone up. I just put a Bartolini NTMB HR-4.7 (and Bartolini CBJD1 pickups) into my Fender AmDlx V and I couldn't be happier. It's currently my favorite bass. Aside from that Bartolini preamps are cheaper if you want yours prewired, which I did.

I debated between these 2 when my Bartolini gave out. I went with Aguilar as it's good and small. Mt cavity isn't very large. If i wanted to spend more I would have gone with an East. I had one in a MIM jazz and it was awesome!

That said, i like the Aguilar now that I am used to it.
